Breakthrough Infections: COVID-19
Breakthrough infection refers to cases in which a completely vaccinated person against COVID-19 nonetheless becomes infected with the virus. A person is considered to be completely vaccinated if they have completed at least 15 days post the second dose of the vaccine.
Suburban Diagnostics conducted a 2-month study to identify the positive cases of COVID-19 post-vaccination, where we found:
7.6 % of vaccinated people (irrespective of dose) were found to be positive. | 60.7 % of these positive cases were female |
42.9% were in the 18-35 age group
35.7% were in the 35-55 age group 21.4% in the >55 age group |
0.96 % of tested patients at Suburban Diagnostics that were completely vaccinated i.e. both the doses completed were found to be COVID-19 positive with true breakthrough infections.
