Celebrated annually to raise global awareness about people's overall health and well-being, World Health Day (WHD) is observed each year on the 7th of April. The date also marks the anniversary of the World Health Organisation’s inception in 1948.
This year’s theme is Our Planet, Our Health with which the WHO urges economies to focus on health & well-being and create a world where people have control over their health and the health of their planet. Health does not only mean being physically healthy but it is also about being mentally and socially healthy.
Here are some ways to ensure your physical, emotional and mental well-being:
- Read daily
- Get your 7-8 hrs. sleep
- Eat your greens
- Avoid processed foods
- Exercise regularly
- Pursue a hobby
- Practice gratitude
And here are some ways to care for the health of your planet:
- Save water
- Avoid use of plastic
- Save electricity
- Switch to solar energy
- Walk instead of using a treadmill
- Dispose off the garbage correctly
- Recycle and Reuse
- Get gardening and plant more trees
On this World Health Day, let’s pledge to do our bit and build a #HealthierTomorrow.
