World Health Day: Preventive Health Check-up Is Essential For All

This year’s World Health Day theme was “Our Planet, Our Health". Amidst the pandemic and growing pollution, diseases like cancer, asthma, diabetes, heart diseases and other lifestyle diseases are increasing rapidly.

We need to keep humans and the planet healthy.

The care in diet and exercise that we take, up to the age of 35 years is instrumental for continued health in our middle age.

Suburban Diagnostics conducted an analysis of people aged 18-35 years who had done a preventive health check-up with us over 5 years to see how their health profile was…

From this pool of 32,000+ people, we found that many young people are deficient in their health reserves.

Men

  • 13% were pre-diabetic (HbA1c: 5.7-6.5, FBS: 100-120 mg/dl), 6% were diabetic (HbA1c: >6.5, FBS: >120 mg/dl)
  • 5% had anemia (Hb: <13 g/dl)
  • 29% had high cholesterol (Cholesterol: >200 mg/dl)
  • 7% had hypothyroidism (TSH: >5.5 μIU/ml)
  • 80% had Vitamin D deficiency (Vit D: <30 ng/ml)
  • 31% had Vitamin B12 deficiency (Vit B12: <197 pg/ml)

Women

  • 11% were pre-diabetic (HbA1c: 5.7-6.5, FBS: 100-120 mg/dl), 3% were diabetic (HbA1c: >6.5, FBS: >120 mg/dl)
  • 32% had anemia (Hb: <12 g/dl)
  • 15% had high cholesterol (Cholesterol: >200 mg/dl)
  • 10% had hypothyroidism (TSH: >5.5 μIU/ml)
  • 79% had Vitamin D deficiency (Vit D: <30 ng/ml)
  • 20% had Vitamin B12 deficiency (Vit B12: <197 pg/ml)

These conditions can all be easily managed if detected early.

When it comes to monitoring your health, the earlier you start, the better!!

This World Health Day, pledge to make your health a priority.
